Perth OPP ticketed nearly 200 drivers for speeding over the long weekend

Perth OPP ticketed 195 motorists for speeding during the Civic Holiday long weekend. 

Just released statistics indicate the local detachment also laid three seatbelt tickets and four charges for stunt driving. Two motorists were charged with impaired driving. 

During the campaign, Perth County OPP investigated six motor vehicle collisions. One involved minor injuries. 

All members of Perth OPP took part in the Civic Holiday long weekend traffic initiative Aug. 4-7. The safety initiative primarily targeted the "big 4" causal factors in serious collisions on OPP patrolled roadways, including impaired Driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving and failing to wear a seatbelt as well as the move over law.

Meanwhile, statistics for the West Region were also released on Wednesday (below, with 2022 statistics). During the course of the four-day campaign, OPP responded to three separate fatal collisions in Norfolk, Oxford and Wellington counties, in which three people lost their lives.
