Stratford police teamed up with Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) to seize weapons after a search warrant was executed at an Orr Street residence in the city on Thursday.

The warrant was obtained after weapons were intercepted by the CBSA as they were being delivered into Canada by mail, Stratford police said in a media release.

Police seized five conducted energy weapons, or stun guns, located within the home.

A 35-year-old male Stratford resident was located within the home and was known to be the recipient of the weapons.

The male was arrested and charged with importing a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of a weapon, smuggling – into Canada, and keeping/acquiring/disposing of goods illegally imported. He was released from custody and is  required to attend court on Jan. 22.

Stratford police thanked the members of the CBSA for their partnership during the investigation. Ongoing collaboration with other law enforcement agencies not only keeps our community safe but also helps maintain the safety of the country as a whole, police said.
