Impaired charge laid following intimate partner violence investigation

An intimate partner violence investigation has led to an impaired driving charge. 

Perth OPP said they attended a residence on Perth Line 55 in Perth East on Tuesday shortly before 4 p.m., after reports the accused went to the residence while on conditions not to be there.

The accused was located on a neighbouring property driving farm equipment.

During the investigation, officers could smell a strong odour of alcoholic beverage. A roadside screening device was administered and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to a local operations centre for further testing.

The 42-year-old of Stratford resident is charged with failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court and operation while Impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

A 90-day administrative driver's license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated, per statute.
