Warriors take the lead in Midwestern conference final

Jordan Moulton, Luke Fritz and Cole Lewis scored goals to lift the Stratford Warriors to a 3-2 win Sunday afternoon over the Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins.

The road win gives the Warriors a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven Greater Ontario Hockey League Cherrey Cup final. 

The junior B Warriors got 39 saves from goaltender Owen Willmore. In between Stratford's three straight goals, Carson Maybury had opened the scoring for the Siskins and Jake DaSilva scored late in the third period. Nolan Chartrand had 22 saves for K-W. 

On Friday night at the William Allman Memorial Arena, Sheldon Price scored in overtime of a 5-4 Stratford win to tie the series at 1-1. Zac McCann scored twice in the first period for the Warriors, including a powerplay goal. Hunter Nagge, shorthanded, and Camden Daigle also scored in the opening period as the Warriors scored four straight after Hayden Zimmerman opened the scoring for the visitors.

Tyson Downs and Blake Wideman scored in the second period and Downs scored again in the third to tie the game. 

Stratford can take a commanding lead in the series when they host game four tonight at the Allman. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
