Jack Herbert Wittig age 93, of Tavistock and formerly of Stratford, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, August 20, 2023.

Born in Stratford, son of the late Herbert and Alma (Schaefer) Wittig. Jack will be remembered by his loving partner Janice Ballantyne. Proud father of Kirk (Lea), Guy (Miriam), Craig Wittig (predeceased), Trudy-Lyn (Ron) Rice, Brad (Jenn) and his stepchildren Richard Clarke, Jamie Clarke and Angie (Joe) Clarke. Grandfather of Abby Lee (Ian), Christine (Paul) Ballantyne, Chad Wittig-Rice, Neil Wittig-Rice, Lane Wittig-Rice, Candice Wittig, Mitzi (Doug) Podann, Tina (Jim) Small, Jaxon Wittig, Justin Clarke, Stella Jan Clarke, Jevin Clarke, Joey Clarke and Mick Clarke. Great grandfather of Adam, Alyssa, Jessica, Leena, Nolan, Eliana and Remy. Jack will be remembered by his sister-in-law Marjorie Wittig and all of Janice’s family along with many nieces and nephews.

Jack was very involved in the automotive business in Stratford for many years, owning Blue Bird Wittig Motors Ltd. Jack owned and operated the Bargain Mart prior to partnering with a couple others and transitioning to Stratford KW Surplus. He was previously involved with Crime Stoppers of Perth County, Stratford Kinsmen Club the K40 Club and served on many boards with the Power Squadron CPSS. Jack was also a longtime member of the Stratford Legion Branch 8. Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his two wives Laurel Hall and Barbara Betts and his only brother Donald Wittig.

Friends and family are invited to Jack’s visitation at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St, Stratford on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Canada or Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth through the funeral home. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
