Smith, George Franklin
Frank Smith of Nelson, BC… 1943-2023… passed away from complications from cancer on September 26, 2023 in Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson. Frank was born in Stratford, Ontario on August 6, 1943. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary, father, George and older brother John. Frank will be lovingly missed by his best friend and partner Sarah Popoff. He has an identical twin brother, Kenneth James Smith of Calgary, AB. He will be greatly missed by his son, Delaney Smith.
He is survived by his nephew, Alain (Genie) Smith. Frank and Ken went to Shakespeare Public School and Stratford Central Secondary School. Frank then went on to complete his education and became a draftsman/time study engineer. He moved to Kitchener, Ontario and worked at Marsland Engineering where he met his wife Debbie and had their son Delaney. Eventually they went their separate ways but stayed friends and took turns raising Delaney. In the late 70’s his brother Ken encouraged him to move to BC where he settled in Kelowna and worked at White Star Trucks until down-sizing to the Lower Mainland and eventually moved to Nelson, BC where he worked at Broader Horizons until his retirement. He enjoyed his retirement playing billiards and bocce ball with his many friends.
A celebration of life will be held at his apartment at 1204B Josephine Street, Nelson, BC on Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 2 – 5 pm.
