Alexander Lionel Smith
1943 – 2022
Peacefully at Rotary Hospice, Stratford on April 17, 2022. Loving husband to Nancy; Father to Alexander (Diana) and Adam (Travis); Step-father to David (Marit); Grandfather to Kirsten, Katrina, Alexander, Braeden and Cameron; Brother to Lori Colbeck (Jim) uncle to Michael, Janet, Robert, Patricia and Chris.
Alex was born in Stratford, son of the late Edythe McMillan and Alexander Lewis Smith. He was a lifelong friend of the Stratford Festival and passionate about all things Shakespeare; Hawkeye and Akela to his boys’ scout troops; builder of vast Christmas morning Star Wars armies; Horse dad to Epic; Dog dad to Patches, Frisky, Danielle, Rhobes Pierre, Danielle II, Andrew Lance & Ami Louise; Rotarian, two time recipient of the Paul Harris Award; Board of Directors of the Discovery Centre. Alex returned to Stratford in 1998 after a long and successful career designing lighting for notable architectural landmarks to lend his talents to lighting his neighbours gardens.
Profound thanks to the kind health care workers at Stratford General Hospital, Clinton Hospital and the Stratford/Perth Rotary Hospice.
