Charles “Charlie” Walter Simons, age 87, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at his residence on June 2, 2023. Born in Stratford, son of the late Milton and Myrtle (Newson) Simons.
Charles is survived by his true love and best friend of 65 years Margaret (Grainger). Proud father of Steven Simons (Toni Johnston), Edward Simons, Sandra (Tony) Massel, Lori (Michael) Gadbois and Alan Simons. Loving Grandpa to Michelle (Shane), Sarah (Patrick), Angela (Shane), Pat, Stevie-Leigh (Mackenzie), Jesse (Candy), Brendan (Michelle), Gabbi, David, Trenton, Christian, William. Great Grandpa to Sam, Hannah, Lauren and Alyssa. Charlie will be fondly remembered by his siblings David Simons and Robert Simons, and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Margurite Jantzi, Darlene (Michael) Dale, Gordon (Mildred) Clark and his many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Charlie was predeceased by his sister-in-law Marjorie Simons, and brothers-in-law Allan Jantzi and James Grainger
Charlie and Margaret farmed in Logan Township and later Ellice Township where they raised black angus and hogs before coming to Stratford where he worked at Henrickson Spring until his retirement in 2000. They always enjoyed family time, especially with the grandchildren. Charlie was a member of Parkview United Church.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Thursday, June 8, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St, Stratford and on Friday, June 9, from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. Cremation to follow.
