August 28, 1940  -  October 16, 2023

Carol Ann Rutledge, age 83, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on October 16, 2023. Born in Stratford, August 28, 1940, daughter of the late William and Mabelle (Jantzi) Kistner.

Carol had a strong appreciation for the arts, and loved to spend her time making pottery, painting, gardening, sewing, and knitting. Her gardens were a reflection of the beauty she found in nature, filled with many colourful flowers.

She lived many lives in her years as a young adult. She often spoke fondly of her memories of time spent with her family and friends, the many cities she lived in, and going to market to sell pottery. Carol especially cherished these times spent with her son, who she loved more than anything else.

Carol’s faith was unwavering, she spent much of her time reading, and drawing meaning from the bible. Right to the end, she was sharing words of her faith to those around her and was not afraid because the Lord would take care of her.

Carol is survived by her son Todd Laing (Cindy). Grandmother of Jamie (Beth), Scott (Mike), Jeremy (Marissa) and Jacqueline. Great grandmother of Sarah, Sophia and Stella.

Predeceased by her sister Sheila Murray (Jack).

The family extends their gratitude to the dedicated police services, EMS, critical care staff at Stratford Hospital, and Reverend Mark Wolfe over this past week. Their compassion and support during this challenging time was greatly appreciated.

A private family service will be held at Avondale Cemetery. Memorial donations in Carol’s memory may be made to the Stratford General Hospital Foundation, or local charity of your choice through the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St. Stratford. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
