James Lloyd Robertson, age 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Spruce Lodge on Saturday, April 16, 2022.

Born in Stratford, son of the late Lloyd and Isabel (Innes) Robertson. Jim is survived by his true love and best friend of 44 years, Darlene (Douglas) Robertson. Proud father of Sara (Kevin) MacMillan and Stacy Robertson. Best grandpa to Logan and Jackson MacMillan who brought him so much pride and joy. Jim will be fondly remembered by his siblings Robina Alexander, Don (Sue) McCallum, Anne (Brien) White, Alex (Joe-Ann) Robertson, Marj (Bill) Wilson, his sister-in-law Doreen McCallum and his brother-in-law Rick Thorn and by the Douglas family along with his many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law Bob and Audrey Douglas, his brothers Bob and his wife Herta McCallum, Bill McCallum and his sisters Jean and her husband Gordon Cossey and Marg Thorn.

Jim found a love for carpentry in high school and followed that passion, working in the construction industry for many years.  He started his own company, James Robertson Contracting which he owned and operated for 35 years.  Jim enjoyed many family vacations including time spent at the beach, biking and long walks.  He also enjoyed the special time spent snowmobiling with his daughters and his grandsons.  Jim was a very hard worker and took great pride in a job well done.  Unfortunately, Jim’s life took a sharp turn when he was diagnosed with early onset dementia.  Although his journey was difficult, he never lost his amazing smile.  Thank you to the wonderful staff at Spruce Lodge for all their care and compassion towards Jim over the last 5 years.

Thank you also to all the special friends and family who visited Jim during his stay at Spruce Lodge.   Family and Friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St, Stratford. A private funeral service will take place Friday, April 22, 2022, with interment in St. Andrews Cemetery (Shakespeare). As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to Lawson Health Research Institute – Cognitive Neurology & Alzheimer Research, Spruce Lodge Stratford or Alzheimer Society of Perth County through the funeral home. 519.271.7411. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
