Shirley Eva Alice Martin (nee Tyler), aged 85 of Stratford, passed away suddenly at home on April 19, 2022.
Shirley was born to Russel Victor Tyler and Alice Tyler (nee Cole) in Neepawa Manitoba although their home was in Rocky Mountain House Manitoba. Her family moved from Rocky Mountain House to Devlin Ontario then to Ripley Ontario before setting down roots in Stratford Ontario when she was 13.
Shirley met her husband David Martin when he moved to Stratford from Peterborough in 1953. They were married August 10, 1957 and have lived in Stratford their entire married life.
Shirley was predeceased by her father Victor and her mother Alice as well as two step mothers Nellie Tyler (nee McDermott) and Phyllis Tyler (nee Sferrazza). Also, previously leaving her family too soon, were her sister Margaret Ross (Archie) and her brother Mervyn Tyler (Linda).
Shirley is survived by her Husband David Martin and her oldest brother Wayne Tyler.
She was proud of her three sons Kelvin (Tanya), Kerry (Annaeli) and Kyle (Jeanette) and blessed by their grandchildren, Ryan, Darren (Stephanie), Patrick, Joanne Cooney (James) and Kaleb as well as her great-grandchildren Henry, Isla, Mera, April, Jacob, Katrina, Joshua and Kara.
Visitation will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday, May 13, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. A celebration of Shirley’s life will take place Saturday May14, at 2:00 pm.
