It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Gaffney, age 77, on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at his residence.
Ken was born in Stratford, son of the late Jean and Joe Gaffney. Ken was predeceased by his true love and best friend Mary (Sansom) Gaffney. ken will be remembered by his brother Thomas (Marie)Gaffney and his sister Karen Boulton and sister-in-law Ruth Whipp and nieces and nephews. Ken was very active in the church before COVID and in his retirement he became a crossing guard, and he looked forward to seeing the children every day. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he became Grand Knight in 2017 which was one hundred years after his grandfather held the same title. Besides his parents and his wife, Ken was predeceased by his brother-in-law Murray Whipp his sisters Margaret MacCallum and Beverley St. Louis, along with his border collies and best buddies Heidi and Belle.
Family and friends are invited to Ken’s visitation on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St, Stratford. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 96 Huron St, Stratford. Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Father Don Pomputis.
Interment of Ken’s cremated remains along with Heidi and Belle will take place following the mass in Avondale Cemetery. The reception will take place in the Parish Hall. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church or to the Stratford Perth Humane Society through the funeral home. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
