Elsie ‘Irene’ Freiburger, age 93, of London, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice of London on Monday, May 1, 2023. Born in Stratford in 1929 to the late Herbert Ellis and the former Sarah Jane Jackson. Beloved wife of the late Vincent Freiburger and Charles Laverty. Irene was predeceased by her brothers Gordon Ellis, Walter ‘Butch’ Ellis and sister Charlotte Soper. She will be missed by her cherished nephews and nieces; James Ellis, Tim Ellis of Edmonton, Bill Ellis, Vanda Klumper, Christi Pike all of Stratford, Royce Soper of London and Colin Soper of Stratford. Irene will also be missed by many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 2 pm – 4 pm at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford where the funeral service will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 11 am. Interment in Avondale Cemetery followed by a reception at the funeral home.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Irene’s amazing group of friends and the home care support workers that allowed Irene to stay in her home. To the amazing staff and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospice, thank-you for giving Irene the respectful care and support in her final chapter of life.
