Jean Kirkland (Drummond) Cox, age 99, of Stratford passed peacefully 2/6/2024 surrounded by her family. Born in Darvel, Scotland, She married Samuel Richmond Cox (d.2015) in 1948. They were proud parents of Allan (d.2009) Graham (d.2021) and Gordon. The family immigrated from Scotland in 1954 to Toronto, and in 1956 on to make Stratford their home.

Jean was a bookkeeper for a few local businesses and did ‘AirbnB’ before it had a name, letting out rooms for Shakespearean Festival visitors from across Canada and United States; many who returned every year. She also was involved with various charities and social events. She was an avid gardener and spent countless hours planting and weeding, she loved her garden.

She and Sammy loved to travel and would visit her late sister Betty Chesworth in Edmonton, and regularly went back to Scotland to visit her other sister Margaret and brother Duncan and their families.

Jean is survived by her son Gordon Cox, his blended family; his children, Rachel Cox (Ward), Dan McGrath, Gordon’s wife Laurie (Tennent) and her children Benjamin and Sarah and her children Ryder and Ruby Pollard Tennent. Jean is also survived by Daughter -in- law Kristine Cox (Graham), granddaughter Janna Cox and her children Kayden, Meleena and Vayda. Granddaughter Stephanie Ponton, her husband Mark and their children Blaine, Aubrey and great -great granddaughter, Amelia.

She also was especially fond of our family friend and caregiver Jan Little, who gave loving care for her these past 15 years.

We will all miss her and cherish her with fond memories of her wonderful Trifles and ‘Mince & Tatties ‘. May you rest in peace and keep your boys up there in check, even if you have to use your slipper!

Love Always,

Your Family
