Elinor Blanche (Henry) Cook passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday June 3, 2023.

Elinor was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Walter Cook, whom she married August 30, 1958 at St John's United Church, Stratford. Elinor was the proud and loving mother of Richard and Max Cook; Mary Lynn and Dennis McEwen; Susan and Roger Scheerer; Nancy Cook and Jim Betts; Bruce Cook; Sheila and Jim Solomon. Elinor cherished her grandchildren and was the devoted Grandma to Derek (Carra), Tori Lynn and Lauren Brick; Quintin (Rachel), Kyla and Brooklynn (Trent McCulligh) McEwen; Justin (Taylor), Kelsey and Carley Scheerer; Jarett, Parker and Ryerson Solomon. Elinor adored her great-grandchildren Cohen and Jack McEwen; Charles and Georgia Brick; and Lincoln McCulligh. Elinor welcomed with love and open arms Max's family - Derrick and Justine Robertson and their children Denver and Deacon; and Craig and Victoria Robertson and their children Clara and Pierce.

Elinor is survived by her dear siblings Beatrice Henry and Terry Henderson; Dan and Lynda Henry; and Bruce Henry. Elinor is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary Cook. She is predeceased on the Henry side by her parents Daniel and Florence Henry; by her sister Dianne Segsworth and her husband Edward; and her sister-in-law Cecilia Kennedy. On the Cook side, Elinor is predeceased by Walter’s parents, William J. D. and Barbara Cook; sisters and brothers-in-law Wilfred and Jean Cook; Lloyd and Gladys Cook; Nelson Cook; William G. Cook; Mildred and Ernest Rose; Beatrice and Richard Nowak; Ralph and Violet Cook; and Shirley Nowak. Elinor was also predeceased by her son-in-law Terry Brick. Elinor is survived by many nieces and nephews and was the caring godmother of John Rose, Mark Cook and Ron Cook.

Elinor was born October 20, 1935. After she married Walter in 1958 she moved to lot 25 concession 8 in North Easthope where she lived until early February 2023 when she moved to be lovingly cared for at Susan and Roger’s in Wellesley. Elinor was a dedicated member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Gadshill until it closed in 2020 – she was a member of St. Mark’s in Wellesley in recent years. Elinor sang in the choir at St. Peter’s for many years and was part of the women’s group at church for over 50 years. The presence of God's love was sure and strong right to the end.

Elinor served her community in many capacities including as a director with the Wellesley-North Easthope Agricultural Society and as a life-long charter member of the Hampstead Women’s Institute.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Wednesday, June 7, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St, Stratford. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 8 at 10:30 a.m.

A private family burial will be held at the former St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gadshill.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society (Multiple Myeloma or Lymphoma Research) or to the charity of your choice.
