It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert (R.J. or Bob) Brodrecht on Saturday August 26, 2023 in his 93rd year. Robert was Born on the family farm on May 17, 1931 to his parents; Henry and Florence Brodrecht.

Beloved husband of Marie Brodrecht, whom he married on July 8, 1966. Sadly missed by daughter Judy & Ed Young. Cherished Grandpa to Shannon & Andrew Hobson. Great Papa to Zach Hobson, Josh Hobson & Morgan Young. Sister Charlotte Brodrecht and several nieces & nephews. Predeceased by his adored Grandson Darren Young, brother Wilson and wife Carole Brodrecht, Walter and Betty Brodrecht brother-in-law Ollie Luckhart, niece Debbie Gerber and nephew Doug Brodrecht.

In Robert’s earlier years, he worked on the family farm and drove the milk truck for his Dad. He owned and operated Brodrecht Transport and later was a salesman for Martin Feed Mills. He also farmed pigs and had a cash crop farm on the 13th Line.

Robert leaves a legacy of community contributions including volunteer work at the Tavistock arena concession stand for 30+ years, Tavistock Men’s club, most known for helping with the sauerkraut dinners, and served on the East Zorra Township Council for 13 years.

Robert & Marie were sponsors of the 6-horse hitch at the Tavistock Annual fair where Robert was also the admission gate keeper. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Robert was a school crossing guard at Maria & Adam street in Tavistock for 20 years! Retiring at 88 years old. Robert loved to spend time with his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. He loved to watch their hockey games, horseback riding and playing cards with them. In Robert’s down time, he enjoyed “tours” with friends and playing cards and driving the countryside selling his homemade sawhorses. Robert will be remembered by his loving family and friends for his generosity, hospitality, and his persistence of “Clean the plate” and “ stay for one more drink” Robert would tell you that the key to staying healthy is keeping busy.

Family and friends are invited to a service for Robert at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford on Wednesday August 30, 2023 at 10:30 am, with a reception to follow.
