Grace Bakelaar, aged 91, of Stratford passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Spruce Lodge on Wednesday August 30, 2023. Born in Vlagtwedde Netherlands, daughter of the late Menno and Jantje Uil. Beloved wife to the late Peter Bakelaar. Loving mother to Joanne (Dave), Cathy (Tom), Wilma (Charles) and Margaret (Pierre). Her children John and Jane and her brother Wubbo predeceased her. Cherished Grandma to Shawn (Jen), Melissa, Joanna (Juergen), Joshua (Victoria), Adam , Robin, Sam, Michelle and Rachel. Great-grandma to Ellie, Ashley, Zach, Isaac, Emily and Hailey. Grace will live on in the memories and stories of her many friends and relatives in Canada and the Netherlands.
Friends and family may gather at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 10:00am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 am followed by a reception. A private family interment will take place at Ball’s cemetery.
In memory of Grace and in lieu of flowers, a donation to ‘YFC/Youth Unlimited’ Stratford (Southwestern Ontario Youth for Christ) , would be appreciated.
