Ontario Welsh Festival comes to Stratford this weekend

Celebration of music, culture features award-winning soloists direct from Wales

A celebration of all things Welsh is coming to the Best Western Arden Park Hotel in Stratford as well as Avondale United Church this weekend.

Events at the April 19 to 21 festival include:

  • The Friday Welcome Tea with harpist Mary Muckle.
  • The Friday evening Noson Lawen where you can be part of the entertainment (or provide your hearty encouragement from the audience).  
  • The Saturday afternoon bus tour, where "Dramatically Different" Stratford showcases what makes Stratford shine including significant theatre sites, history and Welsh influences. Stops include City Hall, Chocolate Barr’s (includes tasting), Job Site Brewery (includes beer sample + pizza slice), and a drive by Stratford Festival theatres. Includes a complimentary goody bag! (Limited seats. Book early.)
  • Presentation of the 12th annual Gold Award to Sheryl Clay-Newell at the Saturday night Banquet where your presence will help to make that event extra special. And be sure to enter the Limerick Contest!
  • The Saturday night Concert with Steffan Lloyd Owen, Bass-Baritone and Trystan Llŷr Griffiths, Tenor, and accompanist, Rhiannon Pritchard on piano at Avondale United Church, 194 Avondale Ave. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.  
  • The Sunday Gymanfa Ganu at Avondale United Church at 1:30 p.m. Come and sing your heart out!
