Downtown Stratford will once again echo with outdoor music this summer, as the MusicBarge makes its now familiar return. Its free public program is better than ever, with new musical twists and familiar favourites appealing to everyone.

Along with the fantastic music to come, MusicBarge will once again be accepting donations at these performances, with 50% (up to $5,000) of donations collected going directly to United Way Perth-Huron.

This collaboration spreads the spirit of local love beyond the Avon’s shores and helps develop and support important programs and services across the region.

“United Way is committed to building stronger communities and helping improve the lives of vulnerable local people,” said Ryan Erb, executive director of United Way Perth-Huron.

“We are extremely grateful for the generosity of Stratford Summer Music in supporting our work, and for all they do to bring music to all residents of Stratford.”

“It is our fundamental belief that experiencing high quality music performances is not just a luxury for those who can afford it, it is a vital part of the human experience that should be enjoyed by all,” said Crystal L. Spicer, executive director of Stratford Summer Music.

“The return of our noon showtimes will make a great lunchtime break for downtown workers looking for a break from their desks — on their own, with co-workers or for a mid-day picnic with their families.”

The program is moving back to its location near the Boathouse, for even easier access to summer music for the community.

MusicBarge moors on the Avon River near York and Erie streets, close to the Boathouse. Stake out a favourite spot on the grassy shoreline and enjoy a feast for the ears.

The program runs on the following four weekends:

  • Friday, July 19 to Sunday, July 21 – 12 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.
  • Friday, July 26 to Sunday, July 28 – 12 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 2 to Sunday, Aug. 4 – 12 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 9 to Sunday, Aug. 11 – 12 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.
