Traffic stop leads to drug charges

A traffic stop in West perth on Dec. 2 has resulted in drug charges for a 24-year-old from Durham. Officers stopped the vehicle shortly before 10 a.m. for speeding and seized suspected cocaine and methamphetamine. The accused stands charged with:
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine

Two people have been arrested in relation to a shoplifting incident that occurred on Dec. 2 on Mitchell Road South in North Perth. Perth County OPP say that the stolen merchandise was valued at approximately $3,000. As a result of this investigation two Scarborough residents, aged 18 and 28, face charges of:
    •    Theft under $5,000 - shoplifting
    •    Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 - in Canada

A 46-year-old from Kitchener has been charged with assault with a weapon in North Perth after officers responded to a business on Mitchell Road South on Dec. 2. Perth County OPP say that an employee was assaulted after they attempted to apprehend the suspect for shoplifting. As a result, the accused faces charges of:
    •    Assault with a weapon
    •    Theft under $5,000 - shoplifting

A teen from North Perth was arrested and charged with assault and uttering threats after police investigated a student incident on the afternoon of Dec. 2. The 13-year-old is scheduled to attend Youth Justice Court at a later date.
