Police looking for Subaru driver clocked at 187 km/h

Police say due to public safety, they didn't pursue the vehicle

Police are looking for a Subaru driver who evaded police while driving more than twice the legal speed limit.

In a news release issued Thursday, Stratford police say that on Tuesday, March 12 around 4:30 p.m., officers watched a white Subaru sedan on Perth South Line 20 travelling east at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was initially observed to be travelling at 125km/h in the posted 80km/h zone.

Police turned around to attempt to stop the vehicle and watched the driver increase its speed to 187km/h as it continued eastbound on Perth South Line 20 toward St Paul’s.

Due to the high risk to public safety police did not pursue the vehicle.

The Subaru is described as a white sedan with a black hood and hood scoop. The vehicle does not have a front plate attached and the identity of the driver and the owner of the vehicle are unknown at this time.

The Stratford Police Service is asking for anyone with information regarding the driver, or the owner, of the vehicle to contact Cst Thomas Lecomte at [email protected]. Anyone with information who wishes to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or www.p3tips.com.
