Police charge teen with sex assault, say victim under age 16

Police say they have charged a Perth County teenager with sexual assault and say the victim in the case was under the age of 16.

Perth County OPP say the charges were laid in relation to a sexual assault that occurred in Perth East.

The investigation began on Aug. 14, police said in a news release.

The victim sustained minor injuries, according to police.

A 16-year-old resident of Perth County was charged with:

  • Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 years of age.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date.

The identify of the accused is protected under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
