Kitchener driver clocked at 50 km/h over speed limit in Perth East

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police have charged a driver after they were clocked speeding more than 50 km/h over the limit in the Township of Perth East, according to police.

On Aug. 21 shortly after 11:50 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Line 34 in Perth East after it was found to be travelling over 135 km/h in a 80 km/h limit zone, the OPP said in a news release.

A 22-year-old from Kitchener has been charged with:

  • Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt - Excessive speed

The driver's licence was suspended for 30 days and the vehicle was impounded for two weeks, according to police.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on Sept. 26.
