SWEABURG - A 34-year-old Oxford County man was charged with careless driving causing bodily harm after a school bus rollover.
The school bus was carrying 40 elementary school students when it rolled over near Sweaburg.
Police said one child was pinned beneath the bus and had to be airlifted to a hospital in London, while several others were taken to hospital by ambulance.
A spokesperson for the Ornge air ambulance service said the airlifted patient has critical injuries. Oxford County Paramedic Services said paramedics took six patients with minor injuries to area hospitals.
The incident happened on Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. OPP Oxford detachment responded to the intersection of Dodge Line and Cuthbert Road.
Officers found the school bus had left the roadway and rolled over onto its side.
The investigation is ongoing.
