Passed away peacefully with her devoted husband, Victor Smith, by her side at the Wildwood Care Centre, St. Marys, on Thursday, March 21, 2024 in her 86th year. Daughter of the late Johan and Antonia (Smits) DeGroot, born July 28, 1938. She immigrated to Canada from Erp, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands with her parents and 5 siblings on the "Tabinta" in 1948. Survived by her husband, Victor Smith, married on August 4, 2012; children, Thomas Stadelmayer and Nancy (Michael) McLeod; grandchildren, Steven (Debbie) Stadelmayer and Sarah Stam; Corinne McLeod (Daniel Blackburn), Brendon McLeod and Abbey (Anton) Dolgovykh; great-grandchildren, Eric Stadelmayer, Sophia and William Stam, Declan (Sidney Rowcliff) Satchell and Bailey Satchell; brother, Anthony (Darlene) DeGroot; sisters-in law, Cheri DeGroot (Joe Cassel), Marilyn DeGroot; brothers-in-law, Steve Eckert, Ronald Sweitzer and Joseph Jardine; sisters-in-law, Ann Oldenburg, Irmgard Derouin, Adelheid Belvedere and brother-in-law, Hans (Arlene) Stadelmayer; step-sisters, Mickie (John) Hamilton and JoAnne (Paul) Matthews; Also survived by the extended Smith Family; cousins in Canada, the USA and the Netherlands; nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Nellie Eckhardt and Margaret Goode.

Predeceased by her first husband, Claus Stadelmayer, married April 11, 1959; father and mother-in-law Daniel and Anna (Willud) Stadelmayer; step-mother, Florentina DeGroot; mother-in-law, Ruby (Smith) Burge; siblings Johannes DeGroot, Maria Nixon, Petronella Eckert (Sweitzer), Wilhelmina (Grant) Barlow, William DeGroot, Francis (Linda) DeGroot and James DeGroot; sister-in-law, Inge (Edmund) Wittek; brothers-in-law, William Nixon, Harry Oldenburg, Herman Derouin and Michael Belvedere; step-sister Ellie (Hans) Von Euw; nephews, Steven Nixon and Dean Pottle.

Eileen moved from Streetsville to raise her family on a farm in Downie Township now Perth South, Line 26; she was an employee at Canadian Fabricated in Stratford; she was a 4-H Leader; an avid gardener; she enjoyed music and dancing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, reading and playing cards. She read Tarot Cards throughout the years for those that were interested in that craft. She was affectionately known as "Omie" to many at Crystal Lake and at the Sebringville Athletic Association Ball Park Booth.

The family would like to express their heart felt gratitude to all the staff and administration who assisted in improving her quality of life during her time at the Wildwood Care Centre in St. Marys; and to the staff at the Stratford General Hospital and the St. Marys Memorial Hospital over the past few years.

Cremation has taken place. The Interment Service will be held in the cemetery at First St. John's Lutheran Church, Seebach's Hill on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 1:00 pm, officiated by Pastor William W. Kramer with a reception luncheon to follow in the church basement.
