In his 75th year, William Baker Miller (Bill) of Stratford passed away surrounded in love by his family at Stratford General Hospital on January 15th, 2024. Bill was born in Stratford to Margaret and Roy Miller.

He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend Jocelyn, his daughter Sara (Tim) stepsons, Scott (Julie) and Todd (Jen), his grandchildren, Ellie, John and Andrew, who he bragged about to anyone that would listen. He also leaves behind three siblings, Bob (Brenda), Bonnie and Heather, as well as several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his first wife, Carol Lovell. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and community.

Bill was a devoted and admired educator for 38 years in Perth County. He was influential and respected by his colleagues and students. Bill was recognized as a top teacher in Ontario in 1996. His lifelong love of learning inspired the same in a second and now third generation.

He was instrumental in the amalgamation of Central United Church and St. John's United Church into Avondale United Church. He was a lifelong member of Central United.

Bill and Jocelyn loved to travel and made many journeys overseas. Bill was a dedicated sports fan. He loved the Blue Jays and Raptors. He was a voracious reader, great listener and fantastic conversationalist.

Cremation has taken place.   Bill’s visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St, Stratford. Bill’s funeral will be held at Avondale United Church, 194 Avondale Avenue on Saturday, January 20th at 10:30 am. Reception will follow.
