The United Way Perth-Huron has teamed up with the OnRush Festival to support the Urgent Needs Fund.

The Urgent Needs Fund supports local residents in a time of crisis with funds for essentials such as rent, groceries, car repairs, medication, and childcare and more than 500 people have been impacted by the fund since April 1, 2023.

“United Way understand that long-term solutions are needed to address challenges faced by vulnerable and newly vulnerable people," United Way Perth-Huron executive director Ryan Erb said in a release. "But we also understand these long-term solutions don’t help pay for groceries, or rent arrears, or an emergency car repair right now. That’s why the Urgent Needs Fund is so important, and why we appreciate the OnRush Festival’s commitment to our work.”

“Providing support for people who are struggling is something very close to my heart”, said Tim Harrison, founder and festival director of the OnRush Festival. “I have personally experienced the anxiety of not being able to cover the basic costs of living and no one should have to feel they have no support at such a time.  Working with the United Way and contributing to the Urgent Needs Fund provides us a way to help support our community through music and through direct action.”

The OnRush Festival will donate a portion of the proceeds from every show during the inaugural event locally from April 4-6 with performances at The Hall, The Bunker Performance Lounge and Cafe, and pop-up venue The Starlight. The festival will also match that donation to provide further help for those in need.
