Seaforth Community Hospital’s emergency department will be closed Tuesday (Jan. 30) night and overnight into Wednesday (Jan. 31) due to sudden health human resource shortages.

The department will shut down at 5 p.m. tonight, with plans to reopen at 7 a.m. tomorrow, when it’s expected to resume normal 24-hour operation.

“Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1,” said the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) in a news release.

“Paramedics will remain available to the community and will re-route to the nearest available emergency department to ensure local residents continue to have access to the emergency services they need.”

The closest 24-hour emergency departments to Seaforth Community Hospital are South Huron Hospital in Exeter, Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich and Stratford General Hospital.

HPHA recommends checking to make sure they are operating with regular hours before heading out.

The Clinton Public Hospital Emergency Department is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Those who don’t have an emergency can call Health Connect Ontario at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-urgent health related questions.
