Stratford and Area Master Gardeners’ ReLeaf Stratford Project is celebrating National Tree Day by planting a sugar maple tree at Rotary Hospice of Stratford Perth.

The tree planting event will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 10:30 a.m.

The first National Tree Day was celebrated in 2011 and since then, Canadians across the country have participated in tree planting events and educational activities.

Drummond Brothers Landscaping will be donating their time to transport and plant the tree.

The sugar maple tree will be planted in honour of healthcare workers.

Sugar maple is one of 10 maples that are native to Canada.
