Stratford may be getting a new integrity commissioner, nearly a month after an investigation found council made 135 improper votes during a five-year span.

Robert Swayze has served as the city's integrity commissioner since 2018, per a report included in Tuesday’s finance and labour relations sub-committee agenda. Now that his contract is up – it was previously extended until Dec. 9 – council is set to decide if it will retain his services or move in a different direction.

The integrity commissioner is responsible for a number of duties, but is chiefly concerned with independently reviewing the conduct of councillors and designated board members and ensuring the adherence to the Code of Conduct as well as the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act.

If council decides to switch integrity commissioners then the city will issue a request for proposal.
