Get a head start on Feb. 14 with these events in Stratford and area

There is no shortage of things to do ahead of Valentine's Day in the Festival City. 

Matilda Gallery and Art Bar (85 Downie St.) hosts Chocolatier Stephen Beaumont Chok tonight (Thursday) for Date Night: Make Your Own Chocolate Art

Beaumont will guide guests through the process of creating edible art, as they learn how to temper coloured cocoa butter, the medium used to paint designs onto acetate with a variety of tools. He will show ways to temper dark chocolate. The event is at 7 p.m. and space was limited, organizers said and must be booked in advance, at $50 per person or $95 per couple. On Saturday, Klomps Home and Garden (3988 Perth County Line 20 RR#1) are hosting their Winter With Love Market from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The store will also host workshops for kids and adults. For more info go to the website.

Also on Saturday, The Arden Park Hotel (552 Ontario St.) is hosting Stratford Concert Choir for a fundraiser. The Magic of Love runs from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. It features dinner, live music, and a silent and live auction and Cork grab.

Stratford Legion Branch 8 (804 Ontario St B1) hosts a Sweetheart Dinner starting at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Guests can enjoy pork tenderloin, potatoes and vegetables, with dessert and a glass of wine. The deadline to preregister is February 8. Stratford Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Bruce Hotel on Sunday, during A Night of Romance at The Bruce

Guests can enjoy a cocktail reception prior, and a candlelit performance, featuring the music of Mozart, followed by a Q&A with Musical Director and Symphony Conductor William Rowson, at The Bruce Hotel (89 Parkview Drive, Stratford) 

Tickets include the cocktail reception with passed canapes curated by The Bruce's own Executive Chef Jacob LeBlanc, and a welcome drink. 

Rowson will lead musicians through chamber music, with a Mozart theme. 

The event runs from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Limited tickets are available for $165.00 (pre tax) per person.
