Aisin Canada has announced expansion of its Stratford plant.

AISIN Corp., an automotive supplier, today announced it plans to expand its manufacturing plant in Stratford in anticipation of new business.

The announcement was made by AISIN Canada president Wayne Robert, who says the planned expansion includes 135,000 sq. ft. of new manufacturing and office space.

Established in 2007, ACI manufactures sunroofs, doorframes, power back doors, moldings, and seating components.

In a news release, Robert says the expansion will principally be utilized to increase manufacturing of AISIN’s industry-leading panoramic sunroofs.

ACI supplies sunroofs and other components to both Toyota manufacturing plants in Canada, located in Woodstock and Cambridge.

“Business is good, but we’ve outgrown our current home,” says Robert. “Fortunately, our plant is in an area that permits and promotes growth, enabling ACI to stay in its current location on Wright Boulevard. The City of Stratford and its people are important to us. We’re here to stay.”

StratfordToday inquired about potential new jobs. The company said that decision will be made "down the road, closer to the time that the expansion is completed".

Stratford Mayor Martin Ritsma says ACI is a good corporate citizen, and an important part of the city’s growing economy.

"Congratulations to ACI on their expansion in our vibrant community,” said Ritsma. “As a long-standing employer in Stratford, ACI’s expansion marks a significant addition to our manufacturing space. My heartfelt congratulations to the leadership and team at AISIN for their dedication and contribution to our city's growth."
