Anyone waiting to plan next year’s family vacation won’t have to wait much longer. The 2024/2025 school year calendar is almost cemented in Stratford and area.
The Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) board of trustees is set to approve the calendar at tomorrow’s meeting.
Next school year is set to start on Wednesday Sept. 4 and wrap up June 27, if the draft calendar is approved.
The winter holidays will begin on Dec. 23, 2024 and wrap up Jan. 3, 2025.
March Break will start March 10 and finish March 14.
Seven professional development or PA days are scheduled:
- Sept. 3, 2024
- Oct. 25, 2024
- Nov. 15, 2024
- Jan. 31, 2025
- May 2, 2025
- June 6, 2025
- June 27, 2025
Additionally, there are five statutory holidays scheduled:
- Oct. 14, 2024
- Feb. 17, 2025
- April 18, 2025
- April 21, 2025
- May 19, 2025
The 2024/2025 school year calendars were developed by the respective school year calendar committees of the AMDSB and the Huron Perth Catholic District School Board (HPCDSB).
The 2024/2025 calendar for the HPCDSB was approved in February with the same dates.
Per the Ministry of Education, there must be 194 school days between Sept. 1 and June 30. The ministry provides guidance for the creation of the calendars, as it pertains to the start and end dates and the holiday schedules.
