Three drivers charged with impaired in less than five hours

In one incident, the accused's vehicle was on fire, police say

In one five-hour time span – between 8 p.m. on May 21 and 1 a.m. on May 22 – police charged three area drivers with impaired-related offences, says a news release issued by Perth County OPP.

Shortly before 9 p.m. on May 21, officers responded to a report of a vehicle on fire on Road 111 in Perth East. The 30-year-old driver from Stratford was charged with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

At around 11 p.m. the same night, officers responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in Listowel. The 32-year-old driver from North Perth was charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs.

At approximately 1 a.m. on May 22, a driver from Stratford was arrested during a traffic stop in West Perth. The 47-year-old stands charged with:  
    •    Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
    •    Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
    •    Driving While Under Suspension - Highway Traffic Act

All three drivers were handed 90-day administrative driver's licence suspensions and their vehicles were impounded for seven days. They are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
