Stratford police had to box a vehicle in after a speed racer's attempted get away was thwarted on Friday morning.

Shortly before 10 a.m., a police officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Elginfield Road (Highway 7), in Perth South and observed a southbound vehicle around Line 2. The vehicle was locked in at 149 km/h in the 80 km/h zone.

A vehicle stop was attempted but the driver failed to stop and continued southbound on Elginfield Road.

The officer boxed the vehicle in and successfully stopped the driver without incident.

The male driver, 25, from London, was arrested at the time of the traffic stop for fail to stop for police and stunt  driving. He was later issued three offence notices under the Highway Traffic Act for speeding, stunt driving, and fail to stop for police.

The driver was released from custody, and is required to attend court Dec. 12.
