Stratford police looking for help identifying assault suspect

Owner of Stratford Variety assaulted, police looking for a suspect

Stratford Police Service are asking for help identifying a suspect responsible for an assault that occurred on Friday, March 10 outside Stratford Variety at 542 Downie St., according to a news release.

Shortly after 9 p.m. police were called to assist Perth County paramedics after a male was found lying in the parking lot with injuries to his head. Police identified the injured male as the owner of Stratford Variety. The victim was transported to hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Video surveillance of the incident showed that the victim had approached an unknown male urinating in the parking lot. The victim and the second male became involved in an argument, which escalated to an assault on the store owner, the release stated.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6-foot-2, average build, black facial hair with trimmed beard and moustache, wearing a black Ralph Lauren hooded vest, black long sleeve shirt underneath, black ball cap, black sweatpants, and black shoes. 

The suspect was last seen driving east on Brydges Street from the parking lot in a two-door black Honda Accord with tinted windows and custom gold rims.
