WELLINGTON COUNTY – A driver and company are facing multiple charges after being found with unsecured containers with flammable oil.
On Wednesday around 2:30 p.m., Wellington OPP report an officer stopped a commercial motor vehicle on Glengarry Crescent in Fergus.
While inspecting the trucks, the officer observed multiple major defects and the truck was found to be carrying several unsecured containers of used oil. Oil was also leaking and the vehicle was over its registered weight.
"Gravity is not an approved or safe way to secure a load," said a post on OPP West Region's Twitter.
A 44-year-old driver from Stratford has been charged with insecure load, failing to ensure daily inspection is conducted, improper tires, and improper license.
A Stratford-based business also faces multiple charges including:
- Permitting operation of vehicle – fail to display inspection sticker
- Permit operation of commercial motor vehicle with load not secured
- No name on commercial vehicle
- Permit operation of a commercial vehicle with major defect
The vehicle was taken out of service and license plates were seized.
