Stratford Police Service (SPS) has officially kicked off Police Week 2022.

It celebrates the work of front-line police officers, 911 Communicators, civilian staff, and all other members of the police service as they work towards creating a safe and healthy community for everyone. Per a release from Stratford Police Service, the week highlights the work of its members, as well as the amazing collaborative efforts shared throughout the community.

This year’s theme - 'Your Police Services: Helping Build a Safer Community' -  highlights and celebrates the role that police officers and personnel play in building a safe and healthy community.

"We at the Stratford Police Service recognize that it takes everyone working together to create a safe and healthy community," the release said.

"We must work together to manage the risks and impacts to the health and safety of everyone as a result of crime, mental illness, addiction, as well as family and social conflict. As first responders, police are often the gateway to many community supports. Our goal is to make that first contact meaningful and work towards the best possible outcome."

Police week allows the service to promote their relationship with their coverage areas of Stratford, St Marys, and Perth South.

"Without the support of other first responders, as well as social, business, and community organizations we could not do the great work that our communities both need and deserve."
