Police lay 111 drug related charges after executing search warrants

Nine search warrants were executed and 26 people were arrested

After executing nine search warrants in several counties, 26 people are facing 111 drug related charges.

The investigation was triggered by an increase in overdose occurrences in the counties of Grey, Bruce, Huron and Perth in May, 2022.

Police seized 160 grams suspected methamphetamine, 50 grams suspected fentanyl, 60 grams suspected cocaine, six grams of suspected carfentanyl, more than 80 morphine pills and more than 140 hydromorphone pills during their investigation. The street value is $25,600.

Police also seized more than $36,000 worth of stolen property, two firearms and more than $6,000 in Canadian currency.

Warrants were enacted on Wed. Sept 21 by various police forces and specialty teams that helped out with the arrests.

Eight of the accused were held in custody upon arrest and the remaining 18 were released on conditions. They are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound, Walkerton, Goderich and Stratford on various dates next month.
