Man accused of driving more than twice the speed limit

On Thursday, March 21, 2024 shortly before 6:30 p.m. the Stratford Police Service was conducting a mobile patrol on Perth Road 112 near line 29 in the Township of Perth South, travelling south.

A black BMW SUV was observed travelling north toward the officer at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was targeted with the in-car radar system and was confirmed to be driving at over twice the speed limit at 173 km/h in the 80 km/h zone.

The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was identified as a 28-year-old male resident of Woodstock.

The driver was charged with stunt driving and speeding and is required to attend court on April 23, 2024. As a result of the stop, the driver was also issued a 30 day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
