A 26-year-old man from Stratford is in critical condition at Victoria Hospital in London following a crash Nov. 23 at around 6 p.m., according to a news release from Stratford police.

Police and other emergency services were called to the scene on Road 113 between Line 29 and Line 26 in Perth South. The investigation revealed a truck was stopped and facing north on Road 113 waiting to turn left when a Volkswagon Jetta, headed north at highway speeds, drove into the back of the other vehicle.

The Jetta came to an immediate stop, the release stated, and the driver had to be rescued from the car by the Sebringville Fire Department. The driver was first taken to Stratford General Hospital and later airlifted to London.

This section of road where the crash occurred was closed for several hours to allow for the Stratford Police Service reconstruction team to investigate the incident. The cause of the collision remains unknown.
