Irene Margaret Savile (Whaling), age 87, on May 11, 2023 passed away peacefully at Greenwood Court. She was the first daughter and second eldest child of ten born to the late James and Iva (Studeman) Whaling (1992 & 2002) in Ellice Township.
She was married to the love of her life the late Raymond Sidney Savile (2009) for 55 years and was predeceased, by two sons, James (Jim) Edward (2005), and Paul Mark (1999).
Irene was a member of the 4H club when she was a young woman. She worked at Canada Fabrication Products in the 1950’s to 1961 until she decided to stay at home with her children and do bookkeeping for Ray’s business. She returned to working outside the home in 1988 for Festival Motor Inn, as a cook, until she retired in 1994. She enjoyed going to their trailer at Happy Hollow in Port Albert, travelling and dancing at Lakeside to name a few. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, in Stratford.
Survived by her eldest son, Dennis (Debbie); only daughter, Kathryn (Ken) Henderson; and youngest son, Kelvin. Daughters-in-law Linda (Ray) Parker and Beth Whitley. Cherished Grandma to Jeff (Alicia) Savile and their sons Ethan and Lucas, Brian Savile, Scott Savile, and Rachel and Caleb Henderson, Allisa Hutchings and her son Kenton, Spencer Savile, Anthony Parker, Alex Parker, Sarah Savile (Brandon Donkersgoed) and Genny Savile (Wyatt Stone), Tracy Illman (Mike Dobson) and her children Taylor, Maddison, Hunter and Linkin, Adam Illman (Julie Foreman) and his sons Gavin and Gage, Tim Illman, also by many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a brother, Leonard (Sandy), and dear sisters, Ruth (John) Mueller, Norma Mark, and Marg Reiger. Sister-in-law of Audrey Sebert, Marg Hahn, Ken (Liz) Savile, Jack Savile, and Patti Anne Montgomery.
Predeceased by her brothers, John Alexander, Eugene Edward wife Mary Loretta (Power) Whaling, Gordon James, and Howard Frank, James wife Barb (McEwen) Whaling; father-in-law and mother-in-law Edward T. and Ruth M. (Denstedt) Savile; and, brothers and sisters-in-law Gordon Reiger, Edward (Ted) Peter Mark, Ronald Edward Savile, Keith Dalton and Barbara Ann (Holden) Savile, Ruth Ann (Hansen) Savile, Herbert Fred and Ruth Norma (Sangster) Savile, Douglas C. Savile, Elmer Savile, and Lloyd Savile.
The family would like to the thank all the staff at Greenwood Court for the caring and compassion at the end of mom’s journey in this life.
Parish prayers will be held at WG. Young Funeral Home on Monday, May 16, 2023 at 6:45p.m. followed by visitation from 7:00 - 9:00 pm and at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 96 Huron Street, Stratford, on Tuesday, May 15, 2023 from 10:00 -11:00 am prior to the funeral Mass at 11:00 am. with Father David Butler. Interment will follow in Avondale Cemetery.
