Thomas Everett Reynolds, Jr., passed away peacefully at Sage Meadows of Lake Geneva on September 12, 2023 at age 88. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years in 2021, Ann Wilson Darlington Reynolds, and is survived by his four children — Tom, Doug, Keith, and Liz and spouses — and 10 beloved grandchildren currently living across the US, Canada and New Zealand.

He was raised in Hinsdale, IL, brother to John and Jim Reynolds, and son to Thomas and Evelyn Reynolds. He attended Hinsdale High School (graduating 1953) and then Denison University (1957) and went on to receive an MBA from the University of Chicago. He also served in the Army Reserves. He married Ann in 1961, raised their family in Clarendon Hills, and spent time each summer at Lake Geneva, WI with family and many friends. He loved the Lake, having grown up around it in the family-built second home in Buena Vista, Fontana, WI. Tom cherished family time and he adored his grandchildren.

Tom is remembered for his devotion to community, family, and friends, always generous in spirit. His numerous leadership roles testify to his commitment to the public good, serving on the Village Board of Clarendon Hills, the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation, and local school boards.  Following his father, Thomas E. Reynolds, Sr., a founder of the Environmental Education Foundation, Inc. (an affiliate of the Geneva Lake Association), Tom served in leadership, endowing scholarships for environmental-centered studies and outdoor education for students in the Geneva Lake area.

He loved to talk Cubs baseball or Bears football, holding season tickets for the Bears for many years.

He worked in the Chicago area, initially in insurance with Marsh & McLennan and eventually moving into independent consulting work in health care management. A person of deep faith,  Tom served as an elder at Christ Church of Oak Brook and was a dedicated member of a men’s prayer group, which met weekly for many decades. He also served as Treasurer at The Chapel on the Hill in the Geneva Lake area.

A memorial service will be held at Fontana Community Church, in the Geneva Lake area, on Monday, September 25 at 11am, with a reception afterwards. There will be a private family burial.

Tom would have requested donations, in lieu of flowers.  Please consider donations to one of the following charities: Rotary Hospice Stratford or to United Church of Canada Mission and Service.
