Lynn Carruthers Lowry of Huron-Kinloss and Mitchell passed away at Stratford General Hospital on Sunday April 23 at the age of 83.
Beloved companion to Donna Mueller and husband to Gayle until her passing in 2005.
Father to Kent (Christy) of Huron-Kinloss, Kendra (Dave Bax) of Eugenia, and Trina Parker (Steve) of Waterloo. Loving and kind Grandpa to Charly and Dannah Bax, Holden and Grayson Parker, and Owen Birch and Leah Lowry. Lynn became a loving member of Donna's family Rob and Chris Mueller and their children Emma, Olivia and Marlyse, and Randy and Marcy Mueller and their children Cole, Kaylin, and Rhyse.
Dear brother to David (Shirley), Wayne (Patt), Carl, Elliott (Ellen), Corinne (Gene). Friend, bandmate and brother-in-law to Glenn (Anne) Boyd. Greatest uncle in the world to many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by wife Gayle, his parents Elden and Alma and siblings Marlene, Perrin and Janette. Also predeceased by in-laws Elmer MacKenzie, Marion Lowry, Murray Thompson, Ernie and Mary Gibson and nephews Dean Gibson, Danny Boyd and Kris Lowry.
Lynn spent a very full life in Huron Kinloss, where Highway 86 ends and the rest of the world begins, as he would say. The 3rd oldest of 9 kids, Lynn quickly learned about sharing, negotiating and how to be loving. These were skills and attributes that served him well over his 83 years of life when he had a successful business in Lowry Farm Systems as well as farming and operating Lowry Grain Elevators with his brothers. Having enjoyed a loving marriage with his wife, Gayle, and after her passing found love again with Donna, Lynn knew the value of enjoying life with a partner. Lynn is an inspirational example of how to live life to the fullest.
When challenges presented themselves and Lynn had a few, his grateful nature and optimism guided his way throughout his journey. Lynn made sure his bucket was empty by the end. The trips, adventures, family gatherings, New Year’s Eve parties, steaks with neighbours and friends and the cottage, which was his magical place, created a treasure trove of memories. And music. Music was Dad’s heartbeat. It was his greatest joy besides his family and enjoyed playing wonderful music with his family (Boyd’s Orchestra).
Lynn knew unconditional love and he showed it daily with his children and grandchildren. He was encouraging and supportive, providing perspective to the very end.
As Dad would say, it’s been a wonderful life.
The family will receive friends at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service to honour Lynn’s life will be held at Pine River United Church on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Pine River United Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, Canadian Mental Health Association, or Ronald McDonald House as expressions of sympathy would be appreciated by Lynn’s family.
