It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved dad, father-in-law and Opa, Willi Hausleitner on Saturday February 1, 2025 at the age of 93.

Willi was predeceased by the love of his life, Annemarie, on August 22, 2017.

Dad was the proud and much-loved father of his three daughters; Susan (Andy), Shirley (Paul) and Sheila (Dave). Loving Opa to Tessa (Tucker), Curtis, Isaac, Joshua and Alexander. Dad will be remembered by his sister Inge and her family, along with other family and good friends in Austria and Germany.

Dad was a man of unwavering love and quiet strength, always putting family first. He was a constant presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren, never missing a game, recital, or school event. Whether cheering from the stands, offering words of encouragement, or simply being there with a warm hug, he made every moment special with his boundless support and pride.

Dad left his beloved country of Austria in 1953 and arrived in Quebec, Canada by ship – a long and arduous journey – to make a better life for himself. He started life in Canada working on a farm. Then, hearing about a German factory opening in Stratford, Dad was hired on the spot and started at FAG (now Schaeffler) in 1954 where he spent over 50+ years. Dad also spent many happy years working at Stratford Packers Delicatessen, which never felt like work to him. During his retirement, he and mom travelled extensively, and we loved to listen to their stories of adventure. Dad was a long-time member of the Stratford Teutonia Club and Choir, Zion Lutheran Church, the Folk Art Multicultural Council, Double Decker Tour Bus, Meals on Wheels and The Crime Stoppers.

Over the past few years, Dad loved going to the Adult Day Program at Romeo Court largely in part to the wonderful staff.

Dad’s kindness, wisdom, and gentle humor will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and the invaluable lesson that the greatest gift we can give is our time.

We were honoured as a family, to be able to provide care for Dad so that he could remain in his home of over 70 years where we have so many happy memories. We would also like to sincerely thank the One Care PSW’s for their care and support. And, most of all, we thank Dad’s tremendous neighbours! He was truly blessed.

Though Dad may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he loved. Schlaf süß, Dad and Opa —Servus! Your love and presence will never be forgotten.

Family and Friends are invited to Willi’s visitation on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St, Stratford. And on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of Willi’s Funeral Service at 10:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 202 Erie St, Stratford, ON. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Stratford General Hospital Foundation or the charity of one’s choice through the Funeral Home. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
