Mary Lavina Core, age 80 passed away suddenly on May 7, 2023. Born in Toronto, December 3, 1942, daughter of Mary Payne of Brampton and the late Earl Payne.
Beloved wife for 59 years of Paul Core. Loving mother of James Core (Sherry), Kevin Core (Lori), Kimberley Walters. Cherished grandmother of Allison Core, Ashley Walters, Katie Walters, Jeremy Core (Jaclyn), Jason Core, Jaclyn Core, Hunter Reid, Malori Reid and great grandmother of Korbin Walters. Sister of Margaret Mountain, Sheila Hepton (Ken), Gordon Payne, Nancy Price (Gordon), Kenneth Payne (Lynda), Doug Payne (Kim), Donald Payne (Sue). Sister-in-law of Charlie Core (Phyllis), Judy Chapman (John), Diane Maranger, Rosie Core. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by brother Robert, brothers-in-law Frank Mountain and Lionel Core, sisters-in-law Gayle Payne, Cathy Payne and niece Nicole Chapman.
Mary Lynn and Paul moved to Stratford in 1972 and opened Texaco Fuel Distributorship, now Core Fuels where she worked in the office until her retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Stratford. Mary Lynn will be remembered and respected by the many lives she touched.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Wednesday, May 10, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, May 11, at St. Joseph’s Church, 96 Huron Street, Stratford from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Avondale Cemetery.
