Warriors rebound for big win in Sutherland Cup final

Stratford cut Leamington's lead in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League Sutherland Cup series to 2-1 on Monday night

Stratford Warriors jumped out to a big first period lead and didn't look back en route to a 6-2 win over Leamington Flyers on Monday night. 

The win cut the Flyers lead to 2-1 in the best-of-seven Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League Sutherland Cup series. 

Camden Daigle, Sheldon Pryce and Hunter Nagge scored in the first period for the Warriors at the William Allman Memorial Arena. 

Patrick Cole made it 4-0 for the Warriors with a powerplay goal in the second period. Hayden Reid and Griffin Grundner scored for the Flyers before Cole added his second powerplay goal of the game near the end of the period. 

Daigle added another goal with the man advantage in the third period. 

Owen Willmore stopped 28 shots for Stratford. Bryce Walcarius stopped 18 shots for Leamington. Boe Piroski took over in the third period after Daigle's goal and stopped four shots. Attendance was 1,612.

Game 4 is Thursday, 7:10 p.m., in Leamington. Game 5 is back in Stratford on Saturday at 5 p.m. If needed, Game 6 is Sunday, May 7 at 5:10 p.m. in Leamington and Game 7 is Tuesday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Stratford.
