The Listowel Cyclones finished the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League season in style Sunday night, beating the St. Marys Lincolns 4-3 in overtime to win their second Sutherland Cup in franchise history with a 4-1 series victory over their Perth County neighbours.

Jack O’Donnell scored his tenth goal of the playoffs 14:55 into the extra frame to give Listowel a comeback victory. Wylie Birkett scored a powerplay goal halfway through the third period to tie the game and eventually force the extra frame.

It was the third straight one-goal game of the finals and Listowel’s fourth straight win after dropping a 3-2 Game 1 decision to the Lincolns. Game 5 was the second overtime affair of the series, as the Cyclones won Game 3 2-1 earlier last week.

Listowel’s only other Junior ‘B’ crown came following the 2018 season when they swept the Caledonia Pro Fit Corvairs.
