Temperatures expected to hit mid-30s

The risks of heat related illness are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors

A heat warning has been issued by Environment Canada for Tuesday and Wednesday this week in the following areas:

  • Goderich - Bluewater - Southern Huron County
  • Listowel - Milverton - Northern Perth County
  • Stratford - Mitchell - Southern Perth County
  • Wingham - Blyth - Northern Huron County

Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-30s Celsius, with nighttime lows only going down to the low-20s.

Hot and humid weather can raise the Air Quality Health Index into the high risk category.

Those at higher risk of heat related illness, such as young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors should take extra precautions.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Temperatures should cool by Thursday.
