Perth East has broken ground on its all-wheels park, a project which has been in the works since 2020.

Local members of Perth East council, Optimist Club of Mornington and future users of the facility gathered at the recreation complex building site to officially launch this phase of the concrete work.

Township workers have completed preparations for the Canadian Ramp Company to build the park. Construction is expected to be complete by the end of June.

The effort to bring this park to the area began in 2020 when several members of the Optimist Club of Mornington formed the Milverton All-Wheels Park committee and began working with council to make this dream a reality.

Since then the committee has been fundraising, working with donors on “in kind” donations, and having input on the design of the park. The club held a “roll-a-thon” in Sept. 2022 to raise awareness of the project and provided a fun way for the future users of the park to help bring it into being. To date $277,000 of the $287,000 price tag has been raised. The committee plans to celebrate the grand opening Sept. 9.

Donations to the park can still be made by contacting Optimist Tricia Holmes Storey at 519-584-5603 or emailing [email protected].  For more information visit here.
